SUMMER READING

Hello everyone. The weather has been wonderful so I have been reading inside the house and outside the house.

My favorite professional summer book to date has been "Beginning Reading and Writing"
Edited by Dorothy Strickland and Lesley Morrow. It will definitely help me be more prepared in fall. It has many helpful hints about how to learn to read and write one step at a time while having fun. The ideas are all very practical.

I also read "Knots In My Yo-yo String" by Jerry Spinelli. I loved the title and thought it would be a fiction story. But, one page into it I discovered YIKES! it really was an "autobiography of a kid" like the author stated on the cover. So I thumbed through looking at the pictures first. Reluctant to even begin. I next read the chapter titles which were also very intriguing. I decided to read a chapter in the middle. Much to my surprise it was very interesting to read and I could relate to the story about his family and when his dog died. So sad a tear of memory trickled from my eye. I was hooked. It is a great book. It made me want to write my own story.
